Help us secure $26 million in funding

Building the new Lincoln Recreation Center will take all of us advocating for a new 21st century center for the next generation.

Mayor Sheng Thao recently released her proposed budget for the 2023-25 fiscal years. The good news is that the budget includes $26 million in Measure U funds for a new Lincoln Recreation Center. However, the final budget is passed by the City Council and we need your help to ensure we are included in it! Please reach out to your Councilperson and ask them to support the Lincoln Recreation Center Capital Improvement Project. You don’t have to live in Chinatown to support this allocation - we know that people from all over Oakland visit Lincoln Square. It is the only park in downtown Oakland and is the most traversed park in the entire city.

Don’t know what to say? Use this script:

“Councilperson, my name is xxxxxx and I am a constituent in your district. I would like to encourage you to support the Measure U funding allocation for the Lincoln Recreation Center in Chinatown. This center means a lot to me and it is in desperate need of a renovation. It is beyond capacity and is the heartbeat of Oakland Chinatown. I would appreciate it if you would support this capital improvement project as you consider the proposed budget. Thank you.”
