Raising awareness for our Community Resilience Center
As we move forward with plans for the new Lincoln Square Community Resilience and Recreation Center, we have had several opportunities to share our plans with outside organizations. Resilience Centers have only been around for a few years, starting around 2020. While they are a fairly new concept, these facilities are lauded for their sustainable and disaster-preparedness features. Investment is being made in resilience hubs across the country, and we are thrilled to be the recipient of Community Resiliency Center funding.
In recent months, both Lincoln Square Recreation Center Director, Gilbert Gong, and Friends of Lincoln Square Co-Founder, Tiffany Eng, have been invited to share project overviews and updates with sustainability groups. Tiffany shared our story of community advocacy to the Contra Costa County Sustainability Exchange, and Gilbert was a guest speaker with the Urban Sustainability Directors Network. We also had an opportunity to host a site visit with APEN and the City of Oakland for State officials. We are honored that our new center is getting recognition outside of Oakland!
