FOLSP presents a Spring Celebration!
By: Karen Dea and Tiffany Eng, Co-chairs
On April 25th at the Oakland Children’s Fairyland, FOLSP (Friends of Lincoln Square Park) presented a fun and appreciative evening for the many donors, supporters, and families, who have been championing the synergy for the new Lincoln Square Community Resilience and Recreation Center.
Close to 150 attending guests consisting of adults and children were given a sneak peak of the updated architectural renderings by Youngchae Lee with Shah Kawasaki Architects, and guest speakers from City of Oakland (Nick Kordesch and Veronika Cole,) APEN (Shina Robinson,) Wa Sung Community Service Club (Karen Dea,) Lincoln Square Recreation Center Director (Gilbert Gong,) and FOLSP founders (Ener Chiu and Tiffany Eng,) shared the updated status of the many components of the project.
While families were adventuring Children’s Fairyland by riding the Trolley Train ride and de Flecto carousel, the Merry Meadow area had guests enjoying flavorful appetizers, Korean tacos, pot stickers, garlic noodles, sushi and Fairyland’s scrumptious cupcakes! Beverages were served and enjoyed at Peter Pumpkin, and music was in the air as entertainer Ukulenny strummed the ukulele and synchronously sang, creating a lot of foot tapping!
MC Ryan Takemiya got the guests excited by doing a fabulous live auction betting war. Thank you to our generous winners, Ravi Sharma and Thurpthi Reddy claiming the wonderful Kona Hawaiian Resort Trip, and Michael Le proudly won the Kentucky Straight Bourbon Basket. The generous monetary donations from Douglas Wong, Edna Lin, and an anonymous donor will go toward the ongoing fundraising needs including the continuation of Lincoln programs during the construction period.
Special appreciation to the following generous contributors: Aimee Eng (Beverages), Karen Dea (Venue), Steve & Laura Chan- Wyndam Kona Hawaiian Resort Trip, and Graves Strategic Partners - Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Basket. Thank you to the attending FOLSP steering committee members for their support: Dharma Galang and Kathy Dwyer, and to the many helpful volunteers!
