Lincoln Square hosts resiliency tour
Lincoln Recreation Center, APEN and the City of Oakland recently hosted a tour of the park and center that was attended by members of the California Public Utilities Commission, California Energy Commission, and Disadvantaged Communities Advisory Groups, Senator Skinner, and representatives from Council President Bas and Assemblymember Mia Bonta’s office. Presenting were representatives from Oakland’s Department of Public Works, the Office of Resiliency, Office of Emergency Services, Oakland Parks, Recreation and Youth Development, Friends of Lincoln Square Park, Wa Sung Community Service Club and Asian Pacific Environmental Network.
The purpose of the gathering was to envision how the future Lincoln Center Recreation and Resiliency Center will serve as a hub during times of crisis and disaster for our community’s most vulnerable citizens. We were also thrilled to share resiliency design plans with the group. Our collective wish is that the new center will provide critical resources like shelter, power, clean air, food storage and distribution, and other solutions during emergencies.
